Yep, I should be watching a bunch of Star Trek and posting about that. Yep, I'm way behind. Nope, I probably won't finish in my one-year timeframe. But I will finish. So don't you fret.
But I did see the film adaptation of beloved nerd classic, Ender's Game over the weekend. And I had enough people asking me what I thought about it that I thought I would do a mini-review.
The short version: I really, really liked it. I was generally okay with what they had to stream line, except for gur snpg gung gur nooerivngvba qvqa'g yrnir n ybg bs ebbz gb fubj Raqre'f (naq uvf gbba yrnqre'f) rkunhfgvba, naq whfg ubj sne gurl'q chfurq uvz. But even that wasn't enough to put me off of the movie in general.
It's my favorite book of all time, and I greatly enjoyed the film adaptation. It wasn't perfect, but as far as a novel-to-movie conversion goes they don't get a lot better. If I did stars, I'd give it 4/5.
The real review is this ridiculously long, self-indulgent video that goes into more detail and is riddled with spoilers.
There will be more TNG commentary posted this week. For reals.
